Light emitting diode technology is nowadays popularly known as LED technology. The basic behind the LED technology is that it is used for backlighting of only TV not the TV display themselves. In general TV technology uses CCFL but considering LED technology’s backlight no other backlight can be compared with it. In LCD there is a glass panel that functions by controlling opacity of the segments of its own by diverging the electrical signals. Each of the individual segments is called pixel, which acts as a shutter to manage the quantity of light passing through it. The more magical effects of LED are its size, power, quality etc as well as the LED uses less energy than CCFL tubes. LED technology has two styles of LED lightning edit mount and direct mount. LEDs are arranged along the edge of the panel in the edge lightning mode. Lights are channeled at the back of glass using guides to offer even lightning. |
In the direct lightning the LED are placed behind the glass. More than 1500 LEDs can be placed in arrays to lighten up couples of million pixels of our Television. The major advantage of direct lightening is that local dimming can be used in TV. In direct lightning LEDs there are two types one is RGB and another one is white.
The white LEDs are very much similar to CCFL in producing white light. In RGB three colors RED, GREEN and BLUE are used to make TV with this type of light capable of a larger color range. LED systems can be also used as PC monitors. The LED also comes with USB port that can be used to see the items on flash drive and view videos, movies and pictures.
